expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain
silent”
Music ignites all areas of child development: intellectual,
social and emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body
and mind to work together. Patriotic songs demonstrate love for one’s country,
or have themes that glorify self-sacrifice, land’s beauty, history or ideals.The Prep Boys Section of The City School Darkhshan Campus organized an Inter School
Choir Competition for classes 7 and 8 on Friday, 17th November 2017
to mark the 70 years of Independence of Pakistan, along with 40 glorious years
of existence of The City School in the field of Education.
Choirs
from ten schools participated in the competition. The
selected songs comprised motivational and patriotic themes which included some
great hits like “Is percham ke saye talay”, “ Tera Pakistan hay” and “Shukriya
Pakistan” to name a few.
Music
was in the air throughout the evening, it was fascinating to witness all the participating
teams put up a magnificent performance. Each one was outstanding and kept the
audience enthralled.The rhythms and the beats of
the competition resonated around the campus and the attendance and response
from the audience was overwhelming.
The
competition was judged by renowned artists which included Afshan Ahmed, Athar
Sani and Ustad Mehmood Ali Khan. The teams were judged on aspects such as voice,
pronunciation, timing, mastery of the lyrics and rhythm. The competition reached to the zenith of excitement
with an absorbing contest among all the participants, however TCS Gulistan-e-Jauhar bagged the first position.TCS PAF Chapter and TCS North
Nazimabad- Girls were declared second and third respectively. Origins school
was awarded the consolation prize. A special performance award was announced by
the judges for Prep Girls Darakhshan Campus for their captivating performance.
The
teams sang with confidence and spread an aura of pleasant harmony which
captivated the audience. The singing was unparalleled and the songs covered by
the teams gave them a completely new dimension. The competition ended with a
captivating performance of Mozart’s symphony by the Choir of the host section.
