Libraries
offer more than just books. The Library is
the place for individual or group study, various kinds of intellectual
interactions, and a social meeting place as well. Students at all levels still
need and want to go to the library now more than ever before. The library week
was conducted from 13th November to 17th November with
zest and enthusiasm. Several activities were carried out during this week.

Author studies are an entertaining way to spark students'
life-long interest in reading, a particularly important factor for new readers
and reluctant readers. With author studies, students learn to compare and
contrast themes, analyze text and illustrations, and make connections between
an author's life and his/her work and between the author's work and the
reader's own life and work. The students took part in the activity with great
zeal. Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordon proved to be the most famous
authors amongst this age group.
Meet the Dewey
Many students are
overwhelmed when entering the library because of the vast amount of books on
the shelves. Learning the Dewey
Decimal Classification enables the students to locate the books of
their choice. The students actively participated in the activity and many
succeeded in correctly finding out the DDC codes for the assigned books.
Book
Mark Activity
The students put their best foot forward and made innovative,
ingenious and splendid bookmarks. The students used materials like coloured
paper, paints, glitter, satin ribbons, mirror, laces and beads to enhance the
beauty of the bookmarks. The students then wrote inspirational quotes on the
bookmarks to make them more interesting and also to capture the reader’s
imagination. The students enjoyed making the bookmarks as it was an opportunity
for them to display their talent and creativity.
