World Book Day

Launched in 1995, World Book Day allows students and schools to celebrate and explore the pleasures of books and reading. And research shows it seems to be having an impact. The following two activities were carried out in the Prep Boys Section to celebrate the World Book Day on Tuesday, 23rd April, 2019.
Parade out the Characters
It is clear that students dressing up – whether for World Book Day, ComicCon, parties, or just for fun – is more than just enjoyable escapism.
Ø  Students dressed up as different characters.
Ø  A special assembly was arranged for the showcasing of the dressed up students.
Ø  The students enjoyed dressing up in costumes and engaging in dramatic roleplaying.
DEAR :(Drop Everything And Read)
A DEAR program (Drop Everything and Read) provides students with much more than a just-sit-there-and-read experience.  Even more important, it gives students time to read what they want to read, share what they've read, and receive the support they need for further reading explorations and reflections.
Ø  The students were informed ahead of the activity to bring their favourite books.
Ø  The whole staff including the teachers, management, admin and even the domestics also brought their books to read along.
Ø  The whole section was involved in this activity at the same time.

Students were completely engrossed in the activity and gave a very positive feedback. It helped the teachers, students, and all other cadres of staff to forget about their routine work and relax and enjoy their favourite books for some time.

English Elocution Contest 2018-19

Elocution refers to one’s capacity of communicating with others and the use of exact speech and gestures. To enhance the oratory skills of our students, an ‘English Elocution Contest’ was conducted by the Prep Boys Section on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. A healthy competitive spirit prevailed amongst the contestants. Keeping in mind several factors which are adjudged during a competition, the children focused on aspects like voice quality, speech, content and delivery.

Two English teachers from other Sections were invited to be the judges. They selected first, second, third and consolation positions from each level. The participants showed their confidence, expression and talent. The honorable Principal, Vice Principal, judges and parents really appreciated and applauded the efforts of the students.
